Our Mission
INUSA ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Medical Mission:
As part of its annual community development initiatives in Ihiala town, the Ihiala National USA (INUSA) has made annual medical missions to Ihiala every Christmas season since its inception in 2009.

In its first year of inauguration, INUSA embarked on its first medical mission estimated budget of N2.36 million ($15,000 at the prevailing exchange rate of $1 = N150).

The medical mission programs include medical screening for all kinds of health issues, distribution of prescription drugs for patients diagnosed with malaria, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes. More than 30 medical personnel including doctors, pharmacists, nurses from United States, and Ihiala, were mobilized as volunteers to the mission.

As its contribution to Ihiala community development in 2012, INUSA donated a brand-new X-ray machine to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Ihiala, at an estimated cost of N4.24million ($27, 000 @ exchange rate of $1=N157).

In 2014 INUSA mobilized N7.25 million toward its key meridian programs – Healthcare, Education and Security. N4.85 million was allocated to providing free health care to Ebeleris; N2.40 million went toward security and purchase of surveillance equipment/gadgets for the Ihiala Vigilante security operative.

2019 through 2020, despite the raging COVID Pandemic, INUSA embarked in fulfilling a dream (mission) on its Health Care Key Meridien Program toward construction an international-standard Emergency Trauma Center in Ihiala.

21 acres of land valued at over N8 million Naira was acquired for the project. All efforts are now geared toward raising funds for the successful takeoff of the project. Here is also where INUSA seeks your assistance in making this project a reality.

Education:
21 Elementary and High Schools in Ihiala town under INUSA Education - Key Meridian program.

N5million was spent on projects in the 21 elementary and secondary schools in the town. Each of the schools received N200, 000 toward projects that were of high priority to the administrators of these schools.

Checks for the schools were handed over to the schools on Ihiala Day on December 31, 2014. Similarly, about N2.25 million INUSA’s donation went to support medical mission at the same year.

Security:
N1.0 million ($6, 400) was donated to the vigilante group in 2010, with 7 motorcycles valued N942, 000 ($6,000) and medical equipment with free medical screening and medication valued at N3.30million ($21,000) were also provided to Ebeleris and others who turned up to receive the medicalscreening and medications.

In the same 2014, a security patrol van valued at N2.04 million ($13, 000) was donated by INUSA to Ihiala Vigilante. This is in addition to medical screening and provision of medicines valued at N3.14 million ($20, 000) the same year. The empowerment of the Ihiala Vigilante group contributed enormously to the foiling of first robbery incident by a vigilante group to be recorded in the history of Nigeria.

INUSA Chairman's Message
Welcome to the Ihiala National USA (INUSA) community. It is with great pride and a deep sense of responsibility that I extend warm greetings to you on behalf of the Patron, Executive Council, and members of INUSA. As a socio-cultural, nonprofit organization registered under Section 501(c)(3) in the State of Texas, INUSA represents a unified body of sons and daughters of Ihiala residing across the United States, committed to advancing the welfare of our hometown and its people. Ihiala, a vibrant town of over 87,000 people in Anambra State, Nigeria, is built on a legacy of patriotism, resilience, and self-sacrifice. These values have shaped generations and continue to define who we are. Today, INUSA carries forward this legacy by transforming ideals into impactful actions that uplift lives and strengthen our community. Historically, Ihiala has made remarkable strides in education and healthcare, supported by institutions such as Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and numerous schools established through missionary efforts. However, the sustainability and quality of these institutions now face significant challenges due to limited government support and gradual infrastructural decline. Recognizing this reality, INUSA has taken on the responsibility of revitalizing these critical sectors. Through the collective sacrifices, generosity, and unwavering commitment of our members and supporters, we continue to make meaningful contributions toward improving education, healthcare, security, and cultural preservation in our community. Our work is guided by four core Programs:
  • Education
  • Healthcare (Medical Missions)
  • Security
  • Cultural Awareness
These pillars represent not only our priorities but also our promise to future generations. At INUSA, we operate with a firm commitment to accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship of all resources entrusted to us. Our Constitution and Bylaws ensure continuity, structure, and sustainability in our operations, regardless of leadership transitions. Despite our progress, the reality remains that sustainable development in Ihiala depends largely on the support of individuals, organizations, and well-wishers like you. Government funding, when available, is often insufficient. Therefore, we invite you to partner with us in this noble mission—because while one person can make a difference, together we can achieve far greater impact. Your contributions will help us:
  • Empower the less privileged and create opportunities for self-reliance
  • Improve access to quality healthcare through medical missions
  • Revitalize educational institutions and standards
  • Strengthen community security and infrastructure
  • Preserve and promote our rich cultural heritage
We assure you that every donation will be utilized with integrity and directed toward initiatives that uphold dignity, promote unity, and advance humanity. We also encourage you to take an active role in shaping the future of our programs. Donors have the flexibility to support existing initiatives or sponsor projects aligned with their personal vision, if they reflect INUSA’s mission of social service and community development. As we move forward, we remain committed to fostering peace, unity, and progress—ensuring that Ihiala continues to thrive as a beacon of resilience and collective strength. On behalf of INUSA, I thank you for your interest, your support, and your belief in our shared vision. Together, we can build a stronger Ihiala. Thank you, and welcome once again. Sincerely, Dara Austin Akabueze (Nnayerugo)
